Local Organizing Against Tar Sands

Over eight hundred activists have been arrested outside the White House opposing the Keystone XL pipeline.
The pipeline is planned to go between Alberta Canada and the U-S Gulf Coast to transport tar sands to convert into oil. At least six activists were from Portland. The Washington-state based ‘Backbone Campaign’ is hoping to organize actions here in the Portland are to oppose Tar Sands oil.

KBOO’s Jenka Soderberg spoke today with Jay Marx and Bill Moyer with the Backbone Campaign about organizing locally on this issue.
