NO CO-PAY FOR BIRTH CONTROL UNDER NEW REGULATIONS

Health insurance companies are now required to cover women’s birth control without co-pays after the Obama administration issued new guidelines today.

The new rules follow the advice from a panel of doctors and health experts, who last month recommended that insurance companies provide women with all approved contraceptive methods, free of additional charge.

In addition to birth control, the preventative health coverage includes services like screening for cervical cancer, breast pumps for new mothers, and counseling for victims of domestic violence.

Although the change is supported by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the new rules are strongly opposed by many conservative groups.

The U-S Department of Health and Human Services has called the new guidelines “historic”.

A representative from the local chapter of Planned Parenthood about the new changes and what they mean for women’s health in America.
