Julie Bernard Collects Her Just Rewards

Former KBOO Art Focus host Julie Bernard is beginning to collect the many community honors she deserves.   She was recently honored by the Portland Art Dealer's Association with a special service citation. The honor is the first of its kind awarded by PADA.

On February 18th Julie received the Art on Alberta Community Service Award for her work hosting Art Focus for close to 25 years. Art On Alberta is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the Alberta Art District's distinct cultural identity through art and educational activities.

Oregonian art writer D.K. Row posted a great archival interview with Julie. You can read it at http://tinyurl.com/co5p4m

I have listened to and enjoyed Julie's show for many years. I now work Thursday mornings, and did not know she had concluded her KBOO run. Whenever I was able to tune in, I was always delighted from the fantastic beginning song by The Five Chinese Brothers, to her obvious passion for art and creative people. She was a great asset to the Portland arts community, and will be sorely missed.
