What is environmental Justice? Why does it matter? What can we do to make a lasting difference in our communities? Historically, low income communities and communities of color have faced a disproportionate share of environmental burdens (including pollution, crime, and other health risks) as a result of institutionalized racism, land use regulations, and a general lack of political power. The enviromental justice movement seeks to remedy these issues, empower communities and recognize their potential.  Jonathon Ostar of OPAL and Jeri Williams of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement are two of the speakers featured in a panel discussion on Environmental Justice tonight at 6pm at the Portland State Multicultural Center in the Smith Memorial Student Union.  Go to pdx.edu/event
