This evening also sees the launch of the second Annual Law & Disorder Conference hosted by Oregon Jericho and Students for Unity.  The goals of this public, disability-affirmative, safe-space-zone event are to establish collaboration between individuals, organizations and collectives working on issues related to political prisoners, police and prison abolition, international solidarity, earth and animal liberation and anti-racist organizing. It all starts this evening at Portland State University’s Smith Memorial Building on the third floor, and it runs through Sunday evening. Childcare will be provided.

This Sunday, the Portland Central America Solidarity Committee invites you to an eyewitness account of violent repression, and resistance thereto, in Honduras. In 2010, Honduras became the most dangerous country in the world for journalists, and this March being the deadliest month on record, with activists and teachers targeted as well. Honduran independent journalist and youth leader Gerardo Torres, whom you may have heard  interviewed this week on Democracy Now!, will be the keynote speaker at PCASC’s annual spring brunch fundraiser   this Sunday morning at the SEIU 503 union hall at 6401 SE Foster Road in Portland.  Tickets and further information are available at pcasc dot net.
