The Multnomah Bar Foundation and Elders-in-Action invite you to a free presentation, called, “Be Your Own Advocate: Consumer Protection & Safety”, on how to protect yourself from scams and frauds, including Identity Theft, door-to-door scams, high pressure sales tactics, and mail fraud. According to the Oregon State Dept. of Justice, 90% of scams and frauds are first tried out on older adults to see if they will work on the general public. Don't be a victim-- come and invite your friends and neighbors. Community Outreach in Our United Villages is sponsoring a FREE Community History Storytelling event focusing specifically on North Portland communities. Come and hear featured storytellers who have lived or worked in North Portland. There will also be an opportunity for anyone to share their own experiences and memories of North Portland in an open forum. REACH OUT TO OTHERS – BECOME A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER. Hospice offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients who are near the end of life. Housecall Providers is a nonprofit medical practice that provides primary-care house calls and hospice services to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout the Portland metro area. Patient Care Volunteers complete 28 hours of training prior to seeing patients and then receive ongoing education and support. The next training class starts Saturday, April 16th, at the Housecall Providers office on SE Belmont in Portland.
