Happy, happy Friday! This is your community calendar for January the 21.

This evening at 7, Portland State University will host an evening with 40-year veteran investigative journalist and foreign correspondent Reese Erlich.    Erlich is touring with his new book, Conversations with Terrorists,  which draws on decades of reporting, personal interviews, and new research to unearth some of the most problematic and overlooked narratives about terrorism. This event, co-sponsored by American Iranian Friendship Council and  Americans United for Palestinian Human Rights, Twill run from 7 to 8:30pm in Multicultural Center Room 228 in the Smith Memorial Student Union at Portland State University.

Tomorrow morning,  Friends of Trees asks your help planting native trees and shrubs in Tranquil City Park in Wilsonville. They  provide breakfast, tools, and guidance, and ask only that planters show up around 8:45 AM and dress appropriately for the weather.

The Early Assessment and Support Alliance is an outreach and treatment program for young people ages 15 to 25 who are experiencing the first symptoms of psychosis.
The Alliance’s services and resources include

  • low-dose medication and medication monitoring
  • individual and group counseling
  • multi-family groups
  • occupational therapy
  • family education and support
  • vocational training
  • life-skills coaching
  • 24/7 crisis services
  • links to community resources
  • education about psychosis




Psychosis can happen to anybody; it is most likely to first occur during young adulthood and it may affect three out of every 100 young people.
