Interview with Dan Serres on LNG, & an attempted interview with Greenpeace on tar sands protest

The spectre of liquefied natural gas has not departed from the Cascadia landscape.  And the out-of-state interests intent on exploiting our rivers, wildlands and shores have not given up.  And they will not give up.  They have limitless resources and they are going to fight their way through thorn, thicket, crag and cranny to get that magic ring.  Why?  Because This is their last best hope on the West Coast.  Pacific connector has the arrogance to claim they will build their fucking pipeline even if there is no terminal.  There’s madness - colorless, ordorless, silent and deadly – in the air.  And if we don’t oppose the LNG juggernaut body and soul, it will roll right over us.  Then, having betrayed ourselves, our descendents and our place on this earth, we will gaze out at the damage …and begin to forget.

The Militia Next Door...

Idaho Guv, Butch Otter, is the first state executive in the nation to sign legislation allowing his state to sue the federal government over federal health care reforms.   But he may be even more than that.  After a decision by U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson yesterday which will allow a 20-state legal challenge to proceed., Governor Otter said this:     “I’m pleased that the judge saw the importance of considering the merits of our case. Idahoans deserve a chance to challenge Obamacare’s unconstitutional abuse of power, and to assert our rights as citizens of a sovereign state,” said Otter.  “I have a responsibility as governor to protect our self-determination, as a state and as individuals, against an aggressively overreaching national government.”  This is the language of the rising tide of Sovereign citizen, anti-government, militias that are currently on the rise.  This is the first instance that an elected official in high office has used explicit Sovereign citizen rhetoric.
