Thom Becker reads about the Paris Climate Agreement

Thom reads from reporting on the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and Simon Fischer's recent follow-up article in New Internationalist, "Post-Paris Climate Talks: implementation at any price": The euphoria that surrounded the conclusion to the Paris Climate Conference has dissipated as nations have failed to agree on its implementation and are turning to the market--for-profit companies--to take on projects which would be a disaster.

Sadly, cost- and climate-effective community conservation initiatives are widely ignored, even though they are arguably highly cost effective. The implementation-mania is tightly focused on creating a process that benefits the private sector. Public funding is scarce, but there are vast possibilities to invest in mitigation or adaptation projects.
