ORIGIN STATION : Niagara Falls, NY                   DESTINATION STATION: Palm Desert, CA

BEGIN:

The plan is Alex Callenberger of Clawfoot Slumber  (http://clawfootslumber.com) will be hosting and spinning records.

Tony Barba and I will be improvising a set as a duo, maybe with andrew jones on bass, if we can convince him, and maybe with a drummer.

Regardless, we are around playing gigs Sat at the Living Room ..... plus Tony will be sitting in with me on the roofdeck of revolution hall on sunday opening for pure bathing culture.

Here is some info about tony:

We met in NYC, in a illegal warehouse/ loft in williamsburg before it was gentrified, played a lot of music together with the Brooklyn Qawwali Party (where we played all of Nusrat's Fateh Ali Khan's Music)

Saxophonist Tony Barba has had a diverse career performing and living all over the globe. For the past ten years, Tony has been a regular member of the Youngblood Brass Band, which recently released their seventh studio album Pax Volumi. Younglood has been touring throughout Europe and the United States for the last two years in celebration of the release and expects to release a new EP this fall. Additionally, Tony has performed/recorded with such artists as Bon Iver, David Murray, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Josh Ritter, Pete Yorn, the Mountain Goats, Andrew Hill, the Violent Femmes and many more. Here is some stuff about me (Mssr Gamble) :

Mike Gamble is an adventurous guitarist and multi-instrumentalist whose work with electronic modes of composition are integrated endlessly into his setup. Gamble has spent the last 15 years immersed in the creative jazz, experimental rock and improvised music scene primarily in NYC, with close ties to New Orleans, Burlington, Boston, San Francisco and the Pacific Northwest. He has had the pleasure of recording over 20 albums  and touring the states, Canada, and Europe with his critically-acclaimed guitar trio The Inbetweens, Counter Record’s Cougar, and alongside doom-metal originators Earth. His more recent collaborators have been prestigious drummer Bobby Previte, bassist Todd Sickafoose, guitar virtuoso Nels Cline, and PNW cellist Lori Goldston. Since relocating to Portland Mike has been running a monthly Audio/Visual series featuring local and touring artists, encouraging them to play rare solo, duo, and trio sets with his own audio-reactive projection setup. Among working on soundtracks, web-series, and branded content for small businesses, Gamble currently holds a position as an  Audio Production instructor at Oregon State University.

“He has a brain that seems to work faster than other human brains - maybe more like a hummingbird or a spider. Music comes flying out. You just sit and listen to what he thinks of next” - Todd Sickafoose

“Mike Gamble is dangerous in the best way” - Nels Cline

“Mr. Gamble knows his way around a drone, but he also puts a lot of shifting harmony and texture in his one-man sketches, some of which —  like “I’m on Your Side,” with its abstracted trip-hop beat —  come across as thoughtfully developed compositions” Nate Chinen NY TIMES

Devin, my man i'm excited to see all the new gear in action.

I will get back to you regarding instrumentation. Most likely sax with effects through a powered speaker that we can bring, gtr with effects through gtr amp and quite possibly a bass amp

Also I promise I will bring my hard drive this time

Mike

(P.S. Is daniel back yet? He owes me money)
