Interview with Lana Jack
Lana Jack is one of the last 20 known Celilo Wy’am people of the Columbia River's historic Celilo Falls.

Jack’s family has fought against federal efforts to take their land for generations. But that fight is far from over.

Today Jack is locked in a legal battle with the Bureau of Indian Affairs to gain rightful control over her family’s land and recognition for their tribal rights.

Currently the Bureau of Indian Affairs refuses to recognize the Celilo Wy’am tribe, and Jack’s family faces felony charges relating to their traditional salmon fishing operations.

KBOO’s Chris Andreae spoke with Jack last week about the case.
