The Afro-Caribbean All-Music Festival

Fri, 11/01/2013 - 7:00pm - Sun, 11/03/2013 - 2:30am

A three-day concert with nine bands, the Afro-Caribbean All-Music Festival will feature the music genres and rhythms that originated in Africa, such as soukouss, highlife, Afrojazz, Afrobeat, calypso, dancehall, mbalax, reggae, salsa, samba, R&B, blues, to name a few.
The Afro-Caribbean All-Music Festival pays tribute to Africa for giving so much to the world, by being the mother of the world’s music! The festival will celebrate the genesis of African music in so many genres. It will bring additional diversity to the cultural fabric of Portland, and a welcome addition to the landscape of festive events taking place around the Rose City every year.

The festival will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 1, 2 and 3rd at TAO event center, 631 NE Grand Ave, Portland, from 7pm till 2:30 am. Nine bands, including Jujuba, Loveness Wesa, Arrasta, Pilon D’azucar, Super Mokako, Roots Revolution, Wamba, Balans and Thione Diop will perform live until midnight, then popular local DJs, such as Mr Dullah, Solo, Sweet pee, M&M, WYT, Lynn and Mark will finish the night with a flurry of nightclub ambience. We are starting this adventure with mostly Portland-based bands that have already established their name with the public locally. They have grown in popularity by playing in places like Vie De Boheme, Goodfoot, the former Mt. Tabor Theater, Wonder Ballroom, Conga Club or even at the popular "Last Thursday of the Month" on Alberta Street. This will be the first time that they have to all play together, in a mega event not to be missed. Tickets are available at
