A little more about the Portland Jazz Singers' Foundation:
In 2004, jazz vocalist and singing instructor Mitzi Zilka had a vision: to
promote jazz singing in the city of Portland, build a sense of community,
and provide singers with performance opportunities in premier venues.

She began by putting together showcase called the Portland Jazz Singers’
Concert Series featuring both established and up and coming jazz vocalists
and booking the shows in prominent venues.

The Portland Jazz Singers’ Concert Series has now evolved into a non-profit
organization: Its mission: to inspire and support jazz vocalists in actively
pursuing their singing dream by providing education, scholarships, and
performance opportunities for honing their craft and sharing America's
indigenous music.
