Interview with the Oregon ACLU's David Fidanque
As of March 31st, Executive Director, David Fidanque, after 22 years leading the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon, plans to retire.
Back in 1993, when Fidanque took over more than 30 statewide and local anti-gay ballot measures put forward by the Oregon Citizens Alliance were boiling over. David immediately committed resources to challenging those measures in the courts, in the legislature and at the ballot box. – and won…’The arc of history is long, but it bends’…
Yes. But it only bends under a strong, intelligent and persistent hand.
Fidanque started his career as a television and radio reporter in Eugene covering politics and crime. From there he moved on to managing the ACLU’s Eugene office in 1982. Then the Oregon Chapter of the ACLU.
And now David Fidanque is still moving forward.
