Toxic Hate and Guess Who's Coming to Radio

I find it easy to listen to the radio and applaud our DJs and radio producers for the good work they are doing: exposing truth, healing us from daily harshness through amazing music, and keeping the edge of education and uncomfortable radio balanced enough for us to learn from each other and further work towards making our racist and colonial power structures to fall.

KBOO 2015 Artist in Residence: SUNNY BLECKINGER

KBOO’s 2015 Artist In Residence: SUNNY BLECKINGER

We began this program to provide resources and assist artists working creatively with sound. Every year, an artist will be awarded twenty hours of studio recording and production time with a KBOO Mixologist. They will also be welcome to use field recording equipment, and other KBOO resources, and will present their work publically at the end of the program.
The art created during the support program will also be hosted on the KBOO Website, and we will include publicity and other media sponsorship benefits with the Artist Support Program.  This year, our artist in residence will be Portland based writer who works with sound regularly, Sunny Bleckinger.

FUNDED! A Podcast & Community Discussion Series on Criminalization

KBOO has received a grant for the Oregon Humainites to create a podcast with 2 community groups that will explore criminalization, the process by which behaviors and individuals are transformed into crime and criminals, in our communities. Two small cohorts of people who often experience criminalization will each create a podcast featuring interviews, information, and analysis about how their communities are criminalized (currently or historically), the effects of criminalization, and repercussions of this dynamic for broader society.
