Day of Silence focused call-in show on Tues 4/29

Categories:

The National Day of Silence was Friday April 25th. This is the largest student-led day of action in the country. Many schools in the Portland metro area, as well as nationally, participated in this event. This year's event was held in honor of Lawrence King, a 15 year old killed in school by a classmate because he was gay and non-gender conforming.

Did you participate in the Day of Silence at your school? Would you like to tell your story on the radio?

For our next Out Loud show, I'd like to invite Day of Silence participants to call into the radio show to tell their story to our listeners - live!

Join us Tues April 15 when we hear from Athens Boys Choir talking about life, youth, performing, medical care and his new video!

From his website: So, the name Athens Boys Choir can be a bit deceiving but you can't blame a Transsexual man living in the Deep South for having a sense of humor about the whole ordeal. So Katz, the Choir's now solo member, travels the country speaking "the good word" throwing down hard hitting spoken-word that deals with issues of Gender, Politics, Love, Sex, and everything in-between.

The Ani DiFranco show is sold out!

Categories:

I was hoping to see Ani's show here at the Crystal on Friday April 18. My bad, my very bad, for not going to get tickets. I almost cried when I heard the show is sold out. I've seen Ani play live countless times over the years but not in the recent past. And not since she's a Mom. Wonder how that's affected her musak?

The next best thing I can do is dream of an ANI SPECIAL.....coming soon to a radio station near you......

If you have an extra ticket or two, contact me asap!

Gay Middle School Student Killed in Oxnard, CA School Shooting

Categories:

For those that believe that LGBTQ folks don't need protection, read what happened INSIDE of a middle school. A child was killed because he was different. Please do what you can to stand for children, especially children who are 'different'. Hate crimes, gay bashings, violence toward LGBTQ and non-gender-conforming individuals happen every day.
