Congratulations and Gratitude to KBOO's Newly Elected Board Members

KBOO had a fantastic Annual Meeting last Saturday. It was great to see so many members attending.

The President of the Board, Adin Rogovin, gave an address that highlighted the postive changes happening at KBOO throughout the last year, the most exciting of which is an invigoration of participation and our financial picture being much healthier than it was just one year ago.

Sam Adams spoke, and Bajo Salario played a wonderful set of music to advance social justice and dancing, all at the same time.

Congratulations and thanks to Melissa Parsons, Jason Prettyboy, Sekoynia Wright, and Raoul van Hall, who have been elected to serve a three-year term on the KBOO Board of Directors.

Help KBOO by donating your gently used 10 x 10 canopy

It's summer in Cascadia!

This is the time of year that celebrations burst forth in our neighborhoods and communities. KBOO is going to be busy all summer with Outreach and Information Booths and Live-Remote Broadcasts.

Over the last few years, we've worn out our pop-up canopy which provides much needed shade to our volunteers and broadcast equipment. Do you have a 10' x 10' pop-up canopy that you are no longer using? Please donate it to KBOO's summer outreach efforts!

Announcing KBOO's New Co-managers!

KBOO has new managers…Yes, two!

Monica Beemer and Mic Crenshaw, two very well-known local non-profit leaders begin their stewardship at KBOO later this month.  They’ll share the duties of Station Manager.

Monica plans to focus on KBOO’s financial well-being while Mic looks forward to working closely with personnel — both paid staff and volunteer programmers.  In a joint statement, the two expressed eagerness at the prospect of team management: “We would each hold responsibility for parts of the position that best utilized our strengths, skills and interests and support each other in fulfilling those parts.”

Come on Down to KBOO for the Winter Membership Drive

Do you want to get more involved with KBOO?  This is your time!  KBOO’s Winter Membership Drive begins Thursday, February 6th  through Saturday, February 15th.
KBOO’s existence depends on on-air membership drives as more than 80% of our funding comes from our listeners--this is, in part, what allows KBOO to be so independent and unique.  We ask that all volunteers at KBOO  help with the drive, as we have more than 400 shifts to fill!

KBOO Sponsored Events in December, 2013

KBOO loves to let our listeners know about what's happening in our region.  We are also proud of our role in helping various arts, activist, cultural and community groups in getting information about their events into the hearts, minds, and the agendas of community members like you!

KBOO has a very active Media Sponsorship Program, creating community partnerships to help promote worthy events.

If you are would like to explore our media sponsorship opportunities, please contact me, I welcome the chance to explore ways that we can partner for the great good.  You can email me at volunteer [at] kboo [dot] org, or call me at 503-231-8032 ext 213.

I am here

yep... still here. Testing: one, two.

Volunteer Spotlight on Shay Wright and Chris Andreae

Shay Wright

Shay has been a big part of KBOO's news and outreach teams since since getting involved with KBOO in 2010. After taking classes in audio production, she remembers her first job as a volunteer was recording a story about logging in Eastern Oregon, to be aired during the next day's evening news broadcast.
