ROCK BLOCKS show!

On this week's edition of ANODYNE, I'll be doing a special show to commemorate KBOO's fall membership drive....

ROCK BLOCKS! These are 4-5 song sets by a particular artist, chosen by you the KBOO listeners. So far I have received five requests: X (the 80's punk band from So. Cal), Pulp, Rockpile, Menomena, and Steven Malkmus & The Jicks. I could use a couple more to round out the show.

To hear your favorite artist featured on this week's rock block show, leave me a comment on my KBOO home page

Thanks as always for listening!

Record Store Day Show

Record Store Day took place on Saturday, April 17th. It is a celebration of the independent record store, manifested through a ton of exclusive releases and lots of freebies and giveaways.

I started doing this show beginning with last year's RSD and it was alot of fun. The kick is that I haven't heard any of these releases -- they're as new to me as they will be to you. This brings some spontaneity and surprise into the mix.

Here's a short list of what you might hear on the show:

The Thermals, The Cribs, The Album Leaf, Devo, Phoenix, Joe Strummer, Sharon Jones, Tuneyards, Dum Dum Girls, Gogol Bordello, Flaming Lips, Telekinesis and much much more. Most of this is on 7" singles.

Tune IN!

Johnny Indovina from Human Drama's new disc

I am hoping you'll add a track from the new disc by Johnny Indovina & Sound of the Blue Heart; I think it's a good fit for the show (I'm here in Portland).

Should I send you the cd?

Here's the links to sample some of the tracks:

Hope to hear from you soon,
Laurena
