Author Rosemary Reed Miller discusses book Threads of Time, the Fabric of History
The Threads of Time, the Fabric of History profiles African-American dressmakers and designers from 1850 to the present. Few Americans know that Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy's wedding dress was designed and created by a Black woman, Ann Cole Lowe.  The soon-to-be First Lady was just one of Lowe's society clients.  Most people know Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat on the bus ignited the modern Civil Rights movement.  Far fewer know that Mrs. Parks was riding the bus to and from her seamstress position at the Montgomery Fair Department store.  Author Rosemary E. Reed discusses these and other talented women in the context of American history.
