Athens Boys Choir: spoken-word homo hip-hop

The name Athens Boys Choir can be a bit deceiving but you can’t blame a Jewish Transsexual man living in the Deep South for having a sense of humor about the whole ordeal. So Katz, the Choir’s now solo member, travels the country speaking “the good word” throwing down hard hitting spokenword that deals with issues of Gender, Politics, Love, Sex, and everything in-between including but not limited to spooning. Katz’s spokenword is raw, unapologetic, witty, and soulful.

This interview highlights Katz's thoughts on gender, youth, performing, making a difference, and of course, the whole gay thing. You'll also 3 different pieces of his.....

QDoc: Queer Documentary Film Festival

Join Carla as she interviews Russ Gage and David Weissman, festival co-directors of the Queer Documentary Film Festival, happening May 29 through June 1 at the Clinton St Theater. Hear about specific movies, as well as the monthly free documentary films being shown at the Q Center.

This is the only queer documentary film festival in the US and only the second in the world. Many movies sold out last year, with over 200 people being turned away from the opening night movie!

Queer Youth Prom & Queer Core Youth Awards

On Saturday June 7th, the Q Center in Portland hosted two events for queer youth. The Queer Core Youth Awards honored area youth with a ceremony and gifts. That evening was the annual Queer Youth Prom hosted by SMYRC. 

Carla attended each event and talked with participants.
