The The Quadrophonnes dropped in to The Outside World again (last time we crammed them all into the air room!) and Daniel managed a pretty sweet mix. The Quads are Mary Sue Tobin (alto and soprano), Chelsea Luker (alto and soprano, but no soprano tonight), Mieke Bruggerman (baritone) and Michelle Medler (tenor) and they not only knock off your socks with their incredible chops and dizzying arrangements, but they are hella sexy to boot! (sorry, they are!)
Here they treat us to a set of tunes from their new CD (and a few others). The CD is called, “Music To Watch Girls By”.Listen a bit and head down to Jimmy Mak’s for their CD release party next Friday, March 27th, from 8 pm til midnight.ALL AGES til 9:30! Jimmy Mak’s is at NW 10th and Everett.

IFoundaSound: A Brief History of Sampling and Appropriation in Music
Monday October 5th 8 pm - Midnight
Dr. Zomb and DJ ManRich present a chronological look at sampling, from it's roots in Musique Concrete and Avant Garde, to the pioneering lp by Brian Eno and David Byrne, and on to culture jamming artists such as Negativland, John Oswald, Evolution Control Committee, as well as turntablism in Hip Hop and finally, recent Mashup masterpieces. Plunder Radio!!!
Ralph Coulson and Rich Lindsay talk with Phil Proctor and Peter Bergman - one half of The Firesign Theatre - who will be in town this weekend for live shows on Friday and Saturday at the Winningstad Theatre.
Dr. Zomb and Rich L. in an informal telephone chat with Otis Fodder and Sir Mildred Pitt of The Bran Flakes.
The Bran Flakes have been crafting insanely upbeat songs since 1998, utilizing the cool and strange thrift store sounds we all love so much and making absurdly cheerful and danceable music. They have released seven full-length albums and have made countless appearances on compilations, as well as touring with a lively stage show.
The Firesign Theatre visited KBOO studios last night and completely took over the airwaves for a solid two hours!
It was fantastic! The four or five crazy guys went on completely unscripted (at one point, Phil Proctor picked up some mislaid minutes from a station meeting and started riffing on it), without dropping a beat. I don't know how they do it. It was hilarious and made for a great night of thoroughly entertaining radio.
