While Oregon's Willamette Valley has the agricultural potential to feed the valley residents twice over, nearly ninety-five percent of what we eat in the Willamette Valley is imported and what's grown here is exported. With the price of all fossil fuels on the rise, a lot of people are beginning to think that this makes no economic or agricultural sense.
