Community members and activists gathered near the downtown site where a 15 year old autistic child, Sir Millage, was beaten and tasered 15 times by the Portland police when they failed to communicate with the disoriented adolecent.
Sir Millage's Grandmother, Pastor Mary Overstreet and her daughters opened the vigil with a song, to be followed by a number of impassioned speakers calling for an end to police violence against community members based on race and/or mental disabilty.
Oregon Action, The Northwest Constitutional Rights Center, and Portland CopWatch were represented at the event.
