Where would you go if time was running out?
Darius Weems is a teenager with a fatal form of muscular dystrophy.
He expects to die before his mid-twenties.
His best friends – a group of a dozen young men – decide to take him on a cross-country road trip. A real test of how accessible America is for the wheelchair bound.
They also plan to infiltrate a reality TV show set.
A documentary film called - Darius Goes West - is about the trip, and a is feature of the Longbaugh Alternative Film Festival.
Director Logan Smalley and Festival Director David Walker spoke with KBOO.
Darius Goes West will be screened as a benefit to help further research into the disease, Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
