The Oregon Bureau of Land Management is considering the sale of 270 acres of public land to make up a budget shorfall. The shortfall is due to the federal government's decision to cut funding for the Rural Schools Act.

It took days - often weeks - for governmental agencies and relief organizations to respond to the disaster in the Gulf.
But residents - in the middle of the disaster - didn’t have a choice, and acted immediately.While countless lives were saved by these first responders, their heroic actions were rarely reported by mainstream media.
