Spanish Immersion School Program's funds are being cut in Portland! Hear from mother and community organizer Savannah Paz about the actions parents are taking to save their children's education on Bread and Roses Friday May 25th at 6pm.

Back in February the city of Philadelphia's school system announced the closing of 40 public school to be replaced by privately owned charter schools. This announcement received very little to no coverage by the local or national media. It appears that this pattern is not new and is repeating itself all over the nation. Here in Portland, Atkinson elementary school and its students and families are protesting Portland Public School's budget cuts. You can hear all about it on your community radio station KBOO!

Portland Holds Final Budget Hearing

Religious Discrimination in the NDAA

A national secular group is urging the U.S. Senate to keep religious based discrimination out of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA.

Today, the U.S. House overwhelmingly passed the annual defense spending bill for the 2013 fiscal year.

Former Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb recently toured the Northwest giving his talk "Creating Democracy & Challenging Corporate Rule."  This presentation is part history lesson and part heart-felt call-to-action! He spoke in Portland at SEIU Local 503 Hall on April 16th.

Cobb is an organizer and national spokesman for MoveToAmend.org, a coalition of over 190,000 people and organizations whose goal is to amend the United States Constitution to end corporate rule and legalize democracy.
