Barbara Ehrenreich is the author of several significant, entertaining, and well-received books, including “Nickel and Dimed: on Not Getting by in America”, “Bait and Switch: the Futile Pursuit of the American Dream”, and “For Hetr Own Good: 150 Years of Expert’s Advice to Women”.
She returned to Portland on July 16 to speak at Powell’s City of Books on her latest book: “This Land Is Their Land: Reports form a Divided Nation”. Here are excerpts recorded by KBOO’s Ethan Scarl.

Professor Marcia Meyers is with the West Coast Poverty Center and has studied the vast differences between raising children in the US with almost no public support and being a parent in Europe where that support is strong.  She shares her conclusions in this conversation with the Old Mole's Bill Resnick.
