Gov. Jan Brewer's veto of an Arizona bill is the death knell for legal religious discrimination.

Similar bills in Ohio and Mississippi were scrapped in the wake of the Arizona veto.

A dramatic weekend in Ukraine has led to the impeachment and ouster of the sitting prime minister, and an interim government has been installed in advance of a special election on May 25. Gigantic cable TV and Internet company Comcast is poised to become even more gigantic after setting up a deal to take over Time-Warner Cable. The result? Even less competition and less choice for consumers. Once upon a time, though, we used to take steps to prevent this sort of thing.

Disaster Capitalism Redux

Short Description:
N.J. Gov. Christie's administration allegedly shook down a mayor in exchange for Hurricane Sandy aid

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie's administration, allegedly, shook down the mayor of Hoboken in exchange for Hurricane Sandy relief funds. It's the scandal du jour, to be sure, but it's also the latest iteration of the "shock doctrine" -- disaster capitalism.

Abe and Joe look back on the history of this unfortunate practice, and take your calls.

Abe and Joe weigh in with another round of discussion about the proposed rail shipments of oil in OR

There's oil in them thar Grear Plains, see, and the oilmen want to get it to port. They want to ship it by rail -- through Oregon to the Pacific. Problem is -- shipping oil by rail is fraught with accidents and, oddly, subject to very little oversight. Abe and Joe return to this thorny (oily?) NW environmental question.
