Parsons was a pioneer blending country, rock and soul together to produce what he called "Cosmic American Music". The memoir "Chinaberry Sidewalks" debuted in early 2011. It was the first venture into the world of prose for "Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame" member and performing artist Rodney Crowell. Crowell also provided the reading for the audiobook of his memoir. He won an award for his efforts. "Chinaberry Sidewalks" is now due to come out in paperback on March 13.

Wayne and Kathy, from the "Swing & Country" dj collective conduct this interview with Rodney Crowell. Crowell reads and comments on chosen passages and answers questions by the two hosts.

Crowell's memoir entitled "Chinaberry Sidewalks" was due to come out just prior to his appearance at Portland's "Aladdin Theater" on Wednesday, February 9. The following audio is the last 40 minutes of that program in which we focused on the music that Rodney Crowell has produced since 2001. Along with the songs are excerpts from a taped interview we had with Rodney and joining us live in the air room was Portland native and Rodney's bass player for the past ten years, Denny Bixby.  This Month we featured the music of singer songwriter and musician Darrell Scott, who appeared in concert at The Alberta Rose Theater on the same day that "Swing & Country" aired. A pre-recorded interview with Darrell Scott was included during the segment of the program which featured his music. The Alberta Rose Theater and Darrell Scott donated a total of four tickets and three "Swing & Country" listeners were able to witness a great performance on saturday evening.

Nine Songs written by legendary singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver will be featured in the second half of the program. Three sung solely by Shaver himself, one by Dale Watson, one by Emmylou Harris, one by Johnny Cash and three off the album "Honky Tonk Heroes", featuring Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Billy Joe Shaver. Shaver will be appearing August 6 from 7:00-8:00pm on the Mt. View Stage at the 2010 Pickathon.

Music from local artists Keeter Stuart, Little Sue and Retta Christie. 
Stuart sings "Cowpoke", a song written by his uncle Stan Jones.
"Deep In The Heart Boogie" is an instrumental number off the album "Rural Jazz" by Retta and The Smart Fellas. Retta Christie shares hosting responsibilities  for "The Noontime Jamboree" which airs every monday at noon
