KBOO Election Night Special

From 5:30 - 10 pm on Tuesday November 6th, KBOO will bring you live coverage of local and national election results.  We will intersperse our live local coverage with the national reporting by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, and will being you up-to-the-minute results on the presidential, state and local elections.  We'll also report on local ballot measures and some in other states: the death penalty in California, marijuana legalization in Washington, and gay marriage measures in four states, including others.

KBOO radio is happy to announce that we will be broadcasting the only 2012 Presidential debate where all top six candidates have been invited.

The debate will take place this Tuesday from six to eight pm, and will be hosted by Larry King.

Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson, Green Party candidate Jill Stein, Constitution Party candidate Virgil Goode, and Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson have all confirmed their participation in the debate.

They plan to build an Ark in Gaza, using existing resources and sail with a crew of Palestinians and internationals out of Gaza carrying Palestinian products to fulfill trade deals with international buyers in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade.

An interview with Larry Gail of Friends of Chidamoyo

The Chidamoyo Christian Hospital in Zimbabwe has been .  Chidamoyo is located in northern Zimbabwe and provide invaluable services to the people in their surrounding areas, many of whom are subsistence farmers.
They provide a wide range of care including both in-patient and out-patient treatment along with laboratory, x-ray and pharmaceutical services. Many of the patients treated are either infants or those suffering from AIDS related illnesses.
 Kathy McCarty, a Nurse Practioner who has been working at this rural mission hospital for 28 years, and others at Chidamoyo Hospital are using to keep the hospital afloat so as to serve as many patients as possible with dignity, love, kindness, and the best medical service possible under the circumstances. Kathy has no phone access, and suggested we talk with Larry Gail, a supporter of the hospital who lives in Seattle.

Van Jones on "Beyond Green Jobs"

Van Jones, environmental advocate, civil rights activist, and attorney, is a co-founder of three non-profit organizations. In 1996, he founded the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights which works for alternatives to violence. In 2005, he co-founded Color of Change, an advocacy group for African Americans. In 2007, he founded Green for All. His first book is "The Green Collar Economy."

He spoke on "Beyond Green Jobs" in Portland on January 25th at the University of Oregon. His talk was sponsored by the Oregon Humanities Center at the University of Oregon.
