The Kill Ugly Radio Halloween Extravaganza

The Kill Ugly Radio Halloween Extravaganza

I'll be spinning some ghastly sounds Friday night/Saturday morning (if you want to be technical) from midnight to 3am!

This year I'm digging deep into the crypt for some extra creepy sounds and some fun horror and Halloween themed tunes - so you know you probably won't be hearing Monster Mash or Thriller.
NSFW or for kiddies - but what the hell would your kids be doing at work at that time of night, anyway?

The fun starts at Midnight! Hope you can tune in!

Jim Pepper 4 hour special!

Jim Pepper (born James G. Pepper in Salem, Oregon, June 18, 1941; d. Portland, Oregon, February 10, 1992) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and singer of Native American ancestry.

Beginning in the late 1960s, Pepper became a pioneer of fusion jazz. His band, The Free Spirits, (active between 1965 and 1968, with guitarist Larry Coryell) is credited as the first to combine elements of jazz and rock. His primary instrument was the tenor saxophone (he also played flute and soprano saxophone), and his characteristic incisive, penetrating tone and soulful delivery was unique for its time. A similar timbre was taken up by later players such as Jan Garbarek, Michael Brecker, and David Sanborn.

From its humble beginnings in 1960 with one microphone and a reel to reel tape recorder, Arhoolie Records became the premier American roots music label. With this year’s release of “They All Played For Us: Arhoolie Records' 50th Anniversary Celebration “- Book and 4 CD set, we decided to do an Arhoolie retrospective.

Phil G and co-host, Alicia Olson, play selections from Arhoolie’s catalog, interview founder Chris Strachwitz, and also the musicians from BeauSoleil, who did early recordings on Arhoolie.

Is Hearing Nothing But Holiday Music since Halloween Scrambling your Brain?

Have you Had It Up to HERE
With that Goofy Reindeer?

Yes, Folks...  Every Radio Station on the Dial has been overtaken by Holiday Mall Music, with Reindeer Roasting on an Open Fire, Chestnuts Decking the Hall Monitors, and the Wassail Ringing Bells in the Snow-Covered Manger.  Is your Brain, too, going Ding Dong Merrily on Along, 24/7?  Well, WE have the Solution!!!

Tune in on Christmas Morning for a Refreshing Dip into the distinctly NON-Holiday Musical Pool...  We'll feature an Eclectic mix of Folk, Blues, Rock, Jazz, and some just plain Goofy Fun Stuff to start out your Christmas Morning - WithOUT feeling like you never left the Mall...

The Theme for the morning will be FUN STUFF you haven't heard in months, and possibly ever.  I'll bring in some rare, out-of-print tracks from my Personal Collection, and wipe the cobwebs off some of the strange stuff hidden Deep in the KBOO Music Library.

Yes, it's the Jingle Bells NOT Show, right here on YOUR Community Radio!!!
