The 48 Hour Film Project will be happening this weekend here in Portland. 25 groups will have a genre selected for them at random and then will have 48 hours to write a script, video record actors, in costume and make up, performing it, and then the raw footage will be edited down into a finished movie. We have two participants, Josh Bertholet and Kathryn Davidson, in the studio to tell us what they have prepared and what they expect they will have to do this weekend to copmplete a film in 48 hours. We will have them back in two weeks on the next show, after they have had time to recover, to tell us what happened.
Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett came by the studio to fill us in on Trek in the Park, live performances of scripts from the original Star Trek TV series present in Cathedral Park each Saturday and Sunday throughout August at 5pm. We talked about the performances, the audiences they have been having, as well as some obsevations about the original TV shows from back in the mid 1960s
The Mad Doctor was helping us out, but we didn't get the recording started until the interview had already started. As this opens we are talking about the look of some of the earliest episodes of the series.
This afternoon we welcome back to the Sampler, Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett, who have returned from this year's Comic Con, where they were promoting their book Frank Reade: Adventures in the Age of Invention. They are also participating in this year's Trek in the Park, which will be happening every Saturday & Sunday throughout August, under the St John's bridge in Cathedral Park at 5pm. <http://www.atomic-arts.org/ >This year Atomic Arts is presenting "Journey to Babel", one of the original Star Trek series' great episodes, in which, Paul and Anina will be portraying Spock's parents!
