Through storytelling, classic video footage, and family memorabilia, Kelly Carlin, the only child of iconoclastic comedian George Carlin, chronicles over 40 years of her life with her famous father. A funny, poignant and honest look at the man who not only redefined 20th century comedy, but inspired generations of comedy fans with such classic routines as Hippie Dippie Weatherman, Class Clown, The Seven Dirty Words, A Place for Your Stuff, and Modern Man. Kelly reveals what it was like to be swept up into the life and career of her father from his early days as a straight comic through his transformation into a counter culture hero and iconoclastic social commentator to the very last days of his life.
Spring Membership Drive is upon us....it's a particularly special occasion as I'm also celebrating 4 years as a late-night KBOO DJ! In those 4 year I have produced a handful of drive specials: one on The Soft Boys/Robyn Hitchcock, one on The Cure, one on Pitchfork's Top 50 albums of the 2000's, and several PDX Pop Now specials. I've also done quite a few "theme shows" with my friend Todd Bayles: Beatlesque I & II, Songs About Girls, Songs About Love, Songs About Cities.
This episode of Back To The Egg is a special of specials! I will be playing 3 hours of sets taken from the 4 years of ANODYNE/Back To The Egg specials. Tune in - there'll be something for everyone! Sunday morning May 6 from midnight to 3am.
