AgesandAges to perform Live on Drinking From Puddles 08/03/11 !!

"Armed with dense, tent revival vocal harmonies and capturing a sense of exuberance and earnestness that has the potential to disarm even the most cynical listeners. Alright You Restless is an exercise in balance, maintaining enough ebullience to be engaging and uplifting without feeling theatrical or manic. This is a line that AgesandAges walk artfully, making their debut album one that’ll leave fans hungry for a follow-up." - All Music

Hello All, and welcome to Portland, Oregon Summer!!! We made all our music selections with summer time in mind. The first selection was "Paint Box" (by Pink Floyd. It has just always reminded me of summer, so I played it!) After that we had a little bit of 1966 (?) tomfoolery with the band. The next cut was a red hot performance of "Summer Time" by Janis Joplin. WOWZERS!!! We spent the rest of the show at The Old Fillmore in San Francisco. Smoakin' Hot performances on July 16,17 1966, and a snippit from 11-19-66. Thanks to all of you that listened, called in, and otherwise shared this Good Ol' Grateful Dead with us at Grateful Dead And Friends! I'll see you all next month!!!

Live on Drinking From Puddles for 07/20/11 it's Tumbledown House !!

“Somewhere between the sights and sounds of Deadwood, S.D., and 1920s cabaret, Tumbledown House has created an act all their own.”
-Bozeman Daily Chronicle

Tumbledown House is a songwriting duo from Bozeman, Montana. Often described as gritty saloon jazz, parlor music inflicted with the unspeakable, or Tom Waits in a cocktail dress, Tumbledown House writes stories that revolve around shady characters down on their luck, brothels with an eccentric clientele, or a scorned woman out for revenge. These stories are delivered with sultry female vocals reminiscent of a bygone era and placed over jazz guitar accompaniment.

Need a primer for PDX Pop Now? What's the big deal with this thing?

Portland's music scene is largely collaborative; cooperation trumps competition. PDX Pop Now! stems from the idea of "local music emboldened by local recognition," and that Portland’s self-sustained scene had reached a level deserving of recognition, discovery, enhancement, stimulation, participation, accessibility and—most importantly—celebration!

Good Even Good peeps!

Welcome to an evening of afrocentric jams...albeit a bit delayed from the laying over of the laying on of jazz hands from the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival tonight. Could not interrupt...disturb the groove.

We'll kick off this adventure of An Evening of Afrotainment with McCoy Tyner channeling John Coltrane into your soul, impressing upon and into us the groove of infinity.
