Anodyne playlist for 06/14/2010

Program name:
Back To The Egg
Air date:
06/14/2010

It’s true that I aired a Cure special in October of last year, but: a) it aired at my old timeslot of 3am, b) that timeslot was only 2 1/2 hours long. c) consequently I never got to the end of The Cure’s chronological discography.

The Cure’s seminal album Disintegration was reissued this week in a 3-disc set, so I figured this would be a perfect time to re-air the special and do it up right this time.

I was happy with the first 3 sets, so I kept those. The rest was all-new, produced in the weeks leading up to this airing. I hope you enjoyed it.

Today I'm featuring some practice, and then for-real live Grateful Dead from the mid-70s.  The rehearsal date/s are in question for some of the content, with full notes available through the date link.  There's numerous rehearsal sessions available on Archive; look in late '67, Fall '71, 1975, early 1983 for starters.  Check anytime there was a new member (keys really), new material, or simply an extended touring break.

Well, Suprise, Suprise! Here I am again filling in for Matt Smith's Rolling Thunder Review!! Today (June 5th) is his Daughter Kelly's 9th Birthday! Happy Birthday Kelly! We began the festivities with some material from the 2-26-90 show from Oakland Coliseum Arena. A hilarious "We Want Phil" episode with Mr. Lesh delivering the goods with Tom Thumb Blues, followed by Music Never Stopped > Don't Ease Me In. We continued this very special day by fulfilling a promise made on my last show to complete the 7-18-76 Orpheum Theater show Set 2. We heard Sugar Magnolia, and the encore Johnny B. Good. It should be noted that J.B.Goode is omited from many of the F.M. broadcasts in circulation these days, so that makes the encore a rarity!
