Little Sue to perform on Drinking from Puddles for 01/26/11 !!

“Susannah “Little Sue” Weaver grew up in West Virginia and, amid the late-90s No Depression boomlet, was arguably the Portland face of alternative-country. “I had never heard country until I moved out here,” Weaver says. “I certainly didn’t plan on doing alt-country to make it big. But, listening to the songwriting, country seemed so honest and straightforward.

"Old music for smart people..." <---- that characterization of ANODYNE came from one of last night’s callers. We had alot of callers last night (I say “we” because my pal Todd was co-hosting). Nine people called in to make requests or to just weigh in on the night’s proceedings. That made it a blast….it was a great night for us…thanks so much for the phonecalls and tweets!!

Short Description:
Natural Snow Buildings, TwinSisterMoon, & Isengrind

Tonight we listen to the wintery sounds of NATURAL SNOW BUILDINGS and related projects. This group was formed in the late 90s in Paris by guitarist Mehdi Ameziane and classically-trained musician Solange Gularte. They have have released numerous albums, many in extremely limited quantities, and they each also have a solo project, Ameziane's TWINSISTERMOON and Gularte's ISENGRIND.  The music of all three is a blend of experimental psychedelic folk/drone/ambient music, and we'll be concentrating more on the longer, more experimental peices from their catelogue.

Dear Listeners,

Today is National Peanut Butter Day, so you heard this special day's special anthem:  Peanut Butter Is A Man's Best Friend from our good friend, Danny Barnes (with our good friend, Darol Anger, on that WILD fiddle!).

Hope you enjoyed my rain sets this morning and the back-to-back Alabama songs:  Alabama Rain and that famous tongue twister from the Crow Quill Night Owls, Abalama Lubijee.

It was a fun show to put together for you, so thanks for listening.

Warmly,

Diane
