Going beyond gender-normative behavior

Air date:
Fri, 12/27/2013 - 8:00am - 9:00am
Short Description:
Another Positively Revolting look at Smashing the Patriarchy
We can't actively change things of which we are unaware.

Join Ani and Lyn as we attempt to bring down patriarchy with the use of witty conversation on gender-normative conformity and puritanical values. What do people mean when we say "be a man", or "act like a lady".  How does this set us up for the dynamics of sexism, Patriarchy, and rape-culture?

How have these norms affected you?  Have you chosen to give some up?

We have a long way to go towards achieving an egalitarian society, but being aware of ways in which we recreate the dominant paradigm will help to get us there.

Call in to be a part of the conversation at 503-231-8187

The traditions are many, and next week the days grow lighter.

Lyn and Ani offer mini-readings combining tarot and astrology to our callers, to celebrate the turning of the year together.

Your calls are welcome at 503-231-8187.

Positively Revolting 07-01-11 Freedom

Categories:
program date:
Fri, 07/01/2011

As we approach the 4th of July, Lyn and Ani question what freedom means.

What does it mean to live free?

Do we see ourselves as independent? Is that even desirable, or is it a part of the problem: the myth of the rugged individual—feeding alienation and isolation?

How do we recognize ways we’ve clipped our wings--- when is this actually a necessary thing?

How do we limit ourselves with our perceptions of what’s possible?

*NOTE - about 3/4 into audio there is a small segment of irreparable 'clicks' due to encoding problems with original file.   Our apologies.

When it comes to taxes, not all income is created—or taxed—equal

Despite the time-honored value of rewarding hard work, our tax code gives preferential treatment to income derived from pre-existing wealth instead of income earned from work.
