In her foreward to the new anthology Kicked Out--by current and formerly homeless LGBTQ youth-- Judy Shepard (mother of Matthew Shepard) notes that a disporportionate percentage of the youth on America's streets are there in part because they identify as lesbian, gay or transgender.  On Tuesday's Outloud show Jacob Anderson-Minshall spoke with Kicked Out editor Sassafras Lowrey and four of the contributors to this powerful collection.  Here is the extended interview with one of those contributors, Tommi, who was kicked out and lived on the streets of New York back in the 1960s.

It's time to celebrate what sets us apart! The queer community is judged and treated differently for our private lives. Tonight we embrace and celebrate local queer sex-positivity on Out Loud.

Krissy Fiction, from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence joins us to talk about BOINK! a porn benefit for the Sisters' Grant Fund and Cascade AIDS Project. Boink is happening Sat, January 23rd @ Invasion Nightclub.

The event was born when a donor gave Cascade AIDS Project 800 porn DVDs and tapes.  CAP contacted the Portland Sisters and suggested a partnership to have the Sisters hold a porn-themed event as a fundraiser for both organizations.  BOINK! came into existence as a sexy, naughty, and most of all, FUN way to raise some money!

All proceeds from the raffle and sales will go directly to the Sisters Grant Fund and to CAP. So all monies raised will be going directly back to the Portland community.

Between interviews, Billy Brag's song 'Sexuality' celebrates what sets us apart - sex!

Darklady also joins Out Loud this evening to discuss her work, her parties, and more!

We also celebrate Dirty Queer's 3rd Birthday, which happened Fri Jan 8. We'll hear from Sossity, MC for and creative force behind DQ, as well as dirty queers (from the audience) on what they like best about this monthly event!

Max Voltage, from Pants-Off Productions, talks about Homomentum: a monthly queer cabaret. Homomentum takes over the Egyptian Room Saturday Nov 14th. This month's Timewarp Talent Show will showcase queer dance & performance-art, with tons of glitter and fabulousness. Homomentum: doors at 7pm, show at 8pm, dance party at 10pm. Cost $5-7 sliding scale. This is a 21+  event. The E Room is wheelchair accessible.

Carla speaks with Molly Franks and Kim Toves from the Multnomah County Health Department. We get an update from Speak Out, a heath survey focused on the LGBTQ community that the Health Department did last summer.

We also hear from Robert Douglas, President of the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest about Our Stories. The Our Stories Series continues with the first of two programs honoring the 30th anniversary of the Northwest Gender Alliance.  Gender Variance M>F will be a panel discussion focusing on the male-to-female portion of our trans/gender-variant community. Early in 2010, the next Our Stories program will feature female-to-male members of the community. Our Stories is happening on Satuday, November 14, 2009, at 7 pm, at theQ Center.

We'll also hear music from local Heather Perkins, who is playing live at Mississippi Pizza Pub Wed Nov 11 @ 9pm.
