Out Loud

Out Loud is KBOO's queer culture radio show, celebrating & serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning & allied communities. We feature interviews with community groups, authors, musical talent, and anyone from the queer & allied communities. We strive to give voice to those not heard in the main stream media.
Update on our schedule change for 2013 :: Out Loud will not air the last Tuesday of each month in 2013. Instead, you can enjoy 'Tune In, Turn On and Remember: 45 years of KBOO Community Radio'. This special public affairs programming consists of gems from the KBOO archives in celebration of our 45th anniversary!
Out Loud is a community created radio show. We need volunteers to help create Out Loud. Please consider getting involved, as there are many things that need to happen before, during and after each radio show. Your skills and contributions are welcome and needed! Email us if you have any questions about getting involved, or even if you just want to say 'Hi!'

Tyra Bank's favorite trans-singer, plus live music from Three Finger Jack on Out Loud
Tonight's show features music from and biography of Joshua Klipp, an award winning musician who also happens to be a trans-man. Plus a live performance from Three Finger Jack, our first-ever straight-ally local-band on this radio show. These musicians, plus local pianist Zach Zaitlin, will perform at Mississippi Pizza Pub on Tuesday August 12th.
What some have said about Joshua Klipp:
“A hot and talented musician” - Tyra Banks, The Tyra Banks Show
“Joshua Klipp is the shit! He makes every gender swoon!”
- Elizabeth Ziff, Co-executive Producer of Showtime’s “The L Word”

Dirty Queer MC guest on Out Loud
Recently voted 'Best place to relive your most graphic sexual encounters in front of a live audience' by Willamette Week, tune in to find out about Dirty Queer. You'll hear from Sossity Chiricuzio, MC of Dirty Queer, the monthly open mic event for queer erotica, which is also a benefit for In Other Words.
Dirty Queer happens the second Friday of every month at In Other Words (8 NE Killingsworth).
Tonight's Out Loud will be the PG-13 version of Dirty Queer, thanks to your federal government's guidelines around indencency. That would be the FCC who makes the rules around what words we can say on the radio. Tonight's radio show has been edited to play by the FCC rules. The true Dirty Queer is NOT PG-13. I like to think of it as XX rated, for the female chromosomes.
Thanks to KBOO volunteer Jacob Anderson-Minshall for this interview.
To continue the theme of performing open-mic style, you'll also hear Ani DiFranco reading "Detroit Annie, hitchiking" by Judy Grahn.

Athens Boys Choir: spoken-word homo hip-hop
The name Athens Boys Choir can be a bit deceiving but you can’t blame a Jewish Transsexual man living in the Deep South for having a sense of humor about the whole ordeal. So Katz, the Choir’s now solo member, travels the country speaking “the good word” throwing down hard hitting spokenword that deals with issues of Gender, Politics, Love, Sex, and everything in-between including but not limited to spooning. Katz’s spokenword is raw, unapologetic, witty, and soulful.
This interview highlights Katz's thoughts on gender, youth, performing, making a difference, and of course, the whole gay thing. You'll also 3 different pieces of his.....
You have 2 chances to see him perform live this weekend! This weekend is the release of his new music video!
