Dear Listeners,
It was FUN-FUN to pop into a couple of my favorite independent record stores on Saturday as they and their happy customers celebrated Record Store Day. Love live lovers (and bringers) of music! I have an armload of new CDs to share with you, including some that are new to me: Ben Howard and Justin Robinson of Carolina Chocolate Drops fame. Plus I picked up some new work from old favorites: The Lovebirds (so sweet!), Bill Evans, Martin Sexton, and Gillian Welch. I look forward to introducing you to the best tracks of these delightful gems.
Keep your dial tuned right here...and we early-morning DJs will keep you right happy....
Musically yours,
Diane

Dear Listeners,
I say this over and over, with utter amazement every time: we live in city of musical riches that has no compare. So much talent living here, moving here, or traveling through here. My life is so much fuller for all these voices. Please join me at an upcoming live concert--be it at a big acoustically perfect venue or the local farmer's market. Show your appreciation to those creative people among us without whom life would be empty.
Musically yours,
Diane

Dear Listeners,
Ah yes, my muse come from a variety of sources. The weather for one. As I put my playlist together yesterday it rained...hard...and snowed.....hard...and then the sun came out....hard. Well, if that didn't serve to inspire me for a set of songs: Rain and Snow, Rust, and Sunny Day. Then I heard that our neighbors to the south are celebrating the return of the swallows to Mission San Juan Capistrano today, so I dug out that lovely tune from The Wailin' Jennys: Swallow. And that wonderful roots music festival that we all look forward to every year, Pickathon, inspired not one, but two sets of music: performers who have been there in past years and a few who are coming this year. I hope you enjoyed all the new music I brought you this morning, too!
Musically yours,
Diane

Dear Listeners,
I'm happy to be sitting in for Jeff this morning while he's out gallivantin' about. I hope faithful listeners of his show found something to enjoy among my selections this morning.
I opened the show with a set of terrific music from Guinea, Ghana, and Mali. That was to honor my sweet little niece, Taylor, who just arrived in her new home in a tiny village in Ghana--beginning her two-year stint in the Peace Corps. I'm one helluva proud aunt...
Threw in some Mardi Gras music, a train set, and music touching on themes presidential (it is President's Day afterall!). I hope you caught the lyrics to Let'em Eat Moose.....too funny!
Keep listening....and thanks for keeping up your support of this magical radio station.
Warmly,
Diane

Hey, I'm playing lots of other terrific music this morning, including tunes related to, uh, well, um, rain, deep rivers, mudballs, and troubled waters. I trust you know where those came from...
Lotsa local music, too--so much talent here! Colleen Raney, Betsy Branch, Mark Douglass, John Standefer, Haris Blackwood, Blvd Park, Lincoln's Beard, Great Wilderness, and a new favorite of mine, Dan Weber. Listen in again on Monday, February 6, when I have Dan in the studio to give us a live performance. I, for one, can't wait!

Dear Listeners,
My warmest wishes for a musical 2012--and believe me, wishes don't get any better than ones for more music in your life. I'm bringing you a whole stackful of my favorites this morning in an effort to usher your new year in with just the right tone. There's a set or two more or less related to "time" since at this time of year, the passing of time is on our minds, and one with a river theme as I resolve to get in a big dose of river kayaking this year--so good for the soul.
Gosh, I hope you're enjoying this!
Musically,
Diane

Good Morning, Sis Diane,
Thanks for the Chicken songs for Mike and I. Next time I will take the laptop to the barn so the girls can listen. (And Sir James and Harry) Just a gourding this morning and getting ready for our Memorial Day Festival in Highlands....could use an extra set of hands. re: new music
Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!
I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:
Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. Myspace.com/eddireader - you can hear some samples.
Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album. www.katerusby.com.
It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!
Thanks and keep up the awesome music!
Doug Smith
Hi Diane,
I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.
;-)
Diane Hunt
This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?
Thank You
Dear Randy,
Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at kboo.fm so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"
That's ok.
I can take it.
So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.
I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...
Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...
Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
