Dear Listeners,

Are you exercising this morning?  Does that body work involve a rowing machine or a dragon boat?  If so, I hope you have your ears tuned to my show for I'm playing a couple of "water-related" sets with your muscles in mind.  There's a canoe, a ship (of fools!), a wooden boat, a river, and even a mermaid in the mix.  I want some credit for your terrific workout this morning!

Kicked off the show this morning with a witty and sardonic tune called "Bovine Belching"...then wrapped up with a long string of songs for Dad, including "The Cows and I."  Sing along at the chorus:

"Moo-oo-ooo, it's just the cows and I.

Cows don't ask why, they know.

Moo-oo-ooo, it's just the cows and I.

Cows don't say goodbye, they low."

Hold on Dad, I'm comin'....

//// NOTES ////
*1 One man's portrait of the cradle of "folk music" as we have come to know it. As usual, Van Ronk knew what he was talking about & told the truth. If you want more of this get his memoir "The Mayor Of MacDougal Street".
*2 Squirrel Butter was just in town for the Old Time Gathering (aka Charlie Becl & Charmaine Slaven). They opened Friday night's concert. I could have listened to Charlie's banjo & Charmaine's clogging all night long.
*3 The greatest of Fishin' Blues I've yet heard. When Taj is on he's on.

Greetings Friends!  Thanks for listening this morning...great music, eh?

You might have heard one or both of the tracks I played from a brand new CD entitled simply MFNW.  That stands for MusicFest Northwest--you know, that festival of hip cool indie music that took place in town back in September.  By donating to KBOO through the Give!Guide I got this CD as a little gift.  I love it!  Our KBOO website has all manner of information to let you know how you can get this CD, the Chinook Book, and a whole host of other thank-you gifts.  Support your local, independent radio station!  I thank you.

I have a big special show planned for you on New Year's Day.  Tune in from 7 to 9 am for some tunes you have never heard's going to be VERY different and all wonderful!

Regards from Puerto Rico I got my Outlook reminder for 9:30am local time and thanks to Diane, I'll be a first time listener today. Look forward to today's program.

Great week to all!

Kind Regards,
Claudio Rivera
Juncos, PR

let's hear some Fruition!

re: new music

Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!

I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:

Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. - you can hear some samples.

Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album.

It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!

Thanks and keep up the awesome music!

Doug Smith

Hi Diane,

I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.

Diane Hunt

This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?

Thank You

Dear Randy,

Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"

That's ok.

I can take it.

So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.

I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...

Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...

Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
