Dear Listeners,

OK, so I had to put a whole block of food-related music in.  Ah yes, food-glorious-food!  I guess that's just where the brain is around this time of year.  Heck, that's where the brain is 365 days a year...  Hope you enjoyed those tunes...and the rest of the show too!

Join me next Monday for some more good stuff....and tune in tomorrow for Early Morning Gumbo.  Wow, there's that food theme again...

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Thanks for all your calls this morning--I love hearing from you!  It was great fun for me to put together this morning's show.  How could you not have fun when you're spinning Tuvan throat singers, a Bahamian legend croaking out Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, a cool version of Little Drummer Boy performed on authentic Middle Eastern instruments, and that cute ditty, Thank You, in grateful appreciation for the gifts of a tie and a DustbusterPlus.  It was a joy, too, to wrap it all up (with a bow!) at the end with that beautiful ancient chant, Virgo Dei.  I hope you enjoyed the 90 minutes as much as I did...

Keep listening to the great Folkstrip programs here on the BOO each weekday morning...and I'll be back for some more folky fun for you next Monday!

Dear Listeners,

Yikes, this morning's program, while full of good music, was a bit on the "minor key" side.  Hmmm, probably could've gone a little lighter, seein' as it's Saint Nicholas Day, the middle of Advent, and Hannukah.  What WAS I thinking?!  Anyway, melancholy or gay, the music was superbly performed by all musicians involved....and I bet THEY were happy to hear the songs I chose for this morning!

I'm back on Monday, December 20, and man-oh-man what a show I have planned for that morning!  You'll be smilin' ear-to-ear during that magnificently upbeat and cheery hour-and-a-half.  Put it on your calendar!

Till then,

Warmly,

Diane Hunt

Dear Listeners,

Ahhhhhh.....it's good to be back in the air room....WITH electricity!  A major power outage put me in the minor key last Monday--no lights, no sound, no show.  Bummer!  But today all is A-OK and I'm thrilled you're listening...

Warmly,

Diane

 Dear Listeners,

I wanted to be on the air but the air is on the blink.

So sorry to report that there is no Folk Espresso this morning....mainly because there appears to be no electricity at the station.  I showed up at 5:15 with a sackful of great music, but alas, the place was a ghost-town.  The night's wind and rain must've done quite a number on some electrical box somewhere!  Well, be sure to tune in tomorrow morning for Early Morning Gumbo with Diane Karl--she always does a terrific show.  And I'll be back next Monday...

Warmly,

Diane Hunt

Dear Listeners,

I'm excited this morning to bring you the World Premiere Broadcast of the Debut Recording of the Brand-New, First-Rate Portland Band, Pancake Breakfast!  Their fresh CD will be in your record store next week, but if you made it to the Doug Fir this past Saturday night you picked up your copy at their fun and packed CD Release Party there.  I hope you get a kick outta the tracks I'm playing for you this morning...

I'm also happy to spin a couple songs today from Mr. John Standefer, a fingerstyle guitar champion hailing from Vancouver.  He'll be joining me in the studio next Monday, so do plan to tune in for that special event.

Keep your dial here on KBOO for joy in the morning!

Warmly,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Happy Labor Day!  I hope you enjoyed the work-related songs I dug up for today's show, including "Blank Blanker" (ever heard of the job called "top duster?").  I threw in a fun Megaband tune-set which included "Hats Off to Summer" and a niece-related song since my dear niece joined me all the way from Virginia in the airroom today.  And what would the Labor Day show be without a set of Dave songs, since he does his terrific three-night show every Labor Day Weekend up at the Gorge.  So there you have it; that's what was going through my head as I planned this playlist.  Enjoy!

Warmly,

Diane

re: new music

Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!

I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:

Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. Myspace.com/eddireader - you can hear some samples.

Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album. www.katerusby.com.

It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!

Thanks and keep up the awesome music!

Doug Smith

Hi Diane,

I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.

;-)

Diane Hunt

This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?

Thank You

Dear Randy,

Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at kboo.fm so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"

That's ok.

I can take it.

So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.

I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...

Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...

Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
