Hi Friends!
Thanks for listening this morning. Chances are, if you were up THIS early on a holiday, you were working. And if you WERE working, I played a couple of special songs for you, including Jon Dakota's "What Am I Working For?" and that old Irish favorite, done up cute by Anne Feeney, called "The Sick Note." But the most specialest one of all is a favorite of mine by Suzzy and Maggie Roche. It's a warm and lovely prayer for all of us who trod off to the factory, the office, the clinic, the woods, the construction site and earn a buck with no hoopla and hurrah. It's called "For Those Whose Work is Invisible." Here. Read the lyrics. And have a relaxing Labor Day...
Thanks,
Diane Hunt
for those whose work is invisible
words by Mary Gordon
music by Suzzy
For those who paint the undersides of boats, makers of ornamental drains on roofs too high to be seen; for cobblers who labor over inner soles; for seamstresses who stitch the wrong sides of linings; for scholars whose research leads to no obvious discovery; for dentists who polish each gold surface of the fillings of upper molars; for sewer engineers and those who repair water mains; for electricians; for artists who suppress what does injustice to their visions; for surgeons whose sutures are things of beauty. For all those whose work is for Your eye only, who labor for Your entertainment or their own, who sleep in peace or do not sleep in peace, knowing that their effects are unknown.
Protect them from downheartedness and from diseases of the eye.
Grant them perseverance, for the sake of Your love which is humble, invisible and heedless of reward.

re: new music
Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!
I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:
Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. Myspace.com/eddireader - you can hear some samples.
Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album. www.katerusby.com.
It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!
Thanks and keep up the awesome music!
Doug Smith
Hi Diane,
I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.
;-)
Diane Hunt
This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?
Thank You
Dear Randy,
Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at kboo.fm so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"
That's ok.
I can take it.
So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.
I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...
Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...
Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
