Dear Listeners,

Gosh, I hope you made it to at least some of the wonderful Blues Festival this past long weekend!  So much good music and such a well-run festival.  Even Mother Nature contributed to the whole affair by sending us perfect weather.  Ah yes....

It was a thrill for me to meet Mr. Leo Welch.....and to bring you a sample of his sound on my show this morning.  He's a sprightly 82-year-old, Deep South bluesman.....whose first CD ever was recorded when he was an even more sprightly 81!

It was also lovely to see Mary Flower there and to hear that she JUST came out with a new CD......which is being debuted this morning on Folk Espresso.

Have fun with all this great music!

Musically yours,
Diane

Dear Listeners,

You are some of the smartest people I know.  Even if I don't actually "know" you.  But just the fact that you're taking advantage of great music first thing in the morning, joyful music, meaningful music, played by musicians with talent up to their eyeballs, well, that tells me you're full of wisdom up to YOUR eyeballs.  This is the nicest way to begin a day.

Thank you for listening.  Thank you for being brilliant.

Musically yours,

Diane

Dear Listeners,

Today is a special day.  Nearly all of us know someone who has gone off to war--voluntarily or very much involuntarily--and some of us know a soldier who did not come home.  Emotions run deep about the reasons our country's politicians send us into the maelstrom of war, but no matter how you much you hate the guns and bombs and flak jackets, be sure to thank a veteran today.

Musically yours,
Diane

Dear Listeners,

KBOO sponsored the Healthcare for All Oregon benefit on Saturday night which featured a ton of great blues musicians.  The Melody Ballroom was full, upstairs and downstairs, with lots of smiling people committed to the cause and diggin' the music and dancing.  I hope you enjoyed the set of music this morning that harkened back to that wonderful evening.

KBOO is where it's at....

re: new music

Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!

I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:

Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. Myspace.com/eddireader - you can hear some samples.

Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album. www.katerusby.com.

It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!

Thanks and keep up the awesome music!

Doug Smith

Hi Diane,

I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.

;-)

Diane Hunt

This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?

Thank You

Dear Randy,

Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at kboo.fm so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"

That's ok.

I can take it.

So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.

I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...

Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...

Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
