Dear Listeners,

Well, this can be considered a "drive time" time slot for a radio show--folks are out there on the highways and byways trying to get to an 8am start time in a cubicular domain.  So has anyone noticed just how rough "drive time" is these days around these parts?  Rush hour seems to last all day nowadays and it's slower than ever before.  Well that prompted me to gather together some songs that speak to driving, traveling, tunnels, and bridges.  And it was all prefaced with a paean to trucks, lest we forget wherefrom comes our necessities...

Hey, I also threw in a trio of sister trios:  Joseph, T Sisters, and the Macrae Sisters.  Beautiful, fresh voices and very nice songs.

I hope you enjoyed today's calming show!

Musically yours,

Dear Listeners,

Whew!  My ears are bustin' at the seams after all that great music out in Happy Valley at this past weekend's Pickathon festival!  What a good time that was--so many joyful people and such a beautiful place of community.  A thousand thank-yous to the organizers, the volunteers, the musicians, the hosts, and all the music lovers who made the weekend so wonderful!

Dear Listeners,

This was a fun show to put together for you!  Fun, cuz it allowed me to reminisce about all the wonderful Pickathon festivals over the years.  So much good music in such bucolic settings with so many groovin' people.  Can't wait til this weekend...

I hope today's little retrospective gave you a nice taste of the feeling of the place when it's full of sharps and flats.

Dear Listeners,

Golly, I hope you had a chance to get out to hear some good blues this past weekend down on the waterfront.  I was just mesmerized by some of the history-making guitar licks and drum solos I heard during the 12 hours I spent there.  What fun!  If you didn't get down and bluesy, then I hope you caught some live music elsewhere in the city.  We're bursting at the seams with good tunes filling the fresh air!

Dear Listeners,

Just for fun today--and to kick off the month of June--I looked up odd holidays and then tried to find music to match'em.  So that's where the June songs from Ben Bullington, The Fretless, and Kyle Carey came in.  Plus, it's Rose Month (and not just here in Portland!), so songs about roses figured heavily in the second set of music.  Then we mustn't ignore National Barefoot Day and Flip a Coin Day, both gracing June 1st.  And the whole month of June is Candy Month, Great Outdoors Month, and of course, everyone's favorite, National Accordion Awareness Month.  Songs for all of those celebrations as well as Fishing Week (this week!) are filling your ears this morning.  I hope you're enjoying the show!

Dear Listeners,

This morning's show is a special one--the songs were all chosen with Christianity's holiest days in mind:  the Easter Triduum.  That's Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.  The lyrics of these songs aren't necessarily religious, but the song titles fit the theme....and the mood of the weekend.  I hope you enjoyed the show!

Musically yours,

Regards from Puerto Rico I got my Outlook reminder for 9:30am local time and thanks to Diane, I'll be a first time listener today. Look forward to today's program.

Great week to all!

let's hear some Fruition!

re: new music

Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!

I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:

Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. - you can hear some samples.

Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album.

It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!

Thanks and keep up the awesome music!

Doug Smith

Hi Diane,

I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.

Diane Hunt

This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?

Thank You

Dear Randy,

Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"

That's ok.

I can take it.

So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.

I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...

Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...

Warm regards,
Diane Hunt, DJ
