ANSWER Coalition flier fines
The ANSWER coalition, made up of dozens of anti-war groups, has called for a campaign to challenge a 10,000 dollar fine the group received yesterday.
The fine was levied on the coalition for putting up fliers for an upcoming peace rally.

Town Hall on the Iraq War

LNG Protest
Organizers and activists from around the Pacific Northwest are occupying the proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal site in Bradwood, Oregon today.
NorthernStar Corporation has proposed building a terminal on the site to import natural gas from Russia and other sources, and pipe the gas through Oregon to the California market. KBOO’s Adinah Little has more:

Rove resigns
President Bush's close friend and chief political strategist, Karl Rove, announced today that he will leave the White House at the end of this month.

A criminal investigation into the leak of a CIA operative's name put Rove under scrutiny for months. However, Rove was not indicted after testifying five times before the grand jury.
In a more recent controversy, Rove, refused to testify before Congress about the firing of U-S attorneys.

Measure 49 Supporters Hope to Fix Measure 37
In this year's legislative session, the Oregon State Legislature was unable to come to an agreement on fixing Measure 37, a rural development bill which would drastically alter the Oregon landscape. This November voters will have a chance with Measure 49 to change the impact of Measure 37. Supporters of Measure 49 say they will need a large turnout to get it passed. South African Radio Station facing crisis
A community radio station serving the South-west township, or Soweto, in South Africa, is currently facing a crisis in governance.
The station began during the anti-apartheid movement in the late 1980s, and became a voice for the oppressed people living in the townships of South Africa.
Now, a corporate coalition led by South African Breweries is attempting to turn the community station into a commercial enterprise.

Arizona mosque attack
A chemical bomb was tossed from a car at a mosque in Glendale Arizona late last night. Local police are considering the incident a possible hate crime.
The explosive device, made up of a swimming pool chemical and a reactant, was tossed by a passenger in a red car.
It landed just feet from an Imam who is one of six Muslim religious leaders filing a lawsuit against U.S. Airways for being removed from an airplane in Minneapolis late last year.
The removal of the six imams had been mentioned on the national Fox News, in an incident of hate speech by a Fox News Correspondent.

norovirus outbreak
For the past week Oregon State Hospital has been dealing with a viral outbreak affecting over 70 people from its staff and patients.
The outbreak has been identified as the contagious norovirus. The norovirus leads to stomach flu and other gastrointestinal illnesses.
The illness is spread by contact with an infected person or bodily fluids, and most sufferers recover in a couple of days.
At Oregon State Hospital, 3 wards have been quarantined in an attempt to get the outbreak under control.
