The Community Grooves program, produced and hosted by Natalie Butto, is about culture across diverse genres and communities.
 
Features include diverse cultural associations and events - such as Hispanic Heritage, Native American Heritage, Kwanzaa, Oregon Day of Culture, Siren Nation Arts Festival, and India Festival - along with related guests. 
 
The program airs live on 1st Fridays at 11:30am-12noon on KBOO Portland 90.7 FM, and at kboo.fm. After airing, programs are also available as a podcast online.

Lilith Fair local artist winner Annie Bethancourt and Mississippi Street Fair

Host Natalie Butto interviews Annie Bethancourt, Ourstage local artist winner for Lilith Fair in Portland. The concert is on July 2nd with a portion of proceeds benefitting Bradley Angle House. The Lilith Fair 2010 tour kicked off in Canada, and this is the first stop on the US tour.

Sony Watson also joins Natalie to share a preview of the upcoming Mississippi Street Fair.as well as insights about the neighborhood. The Fair takes place on July 10th and benefits local schools.

Cascade Festival of African Films, Chinese Gardens + Chinese New Year events

On February’s “Community Grooves” program, we celebrate Black History Month and the upcoming Chinese New Year.
 
Natalie Butto hosted the program live and was joined in studio by Cascade Festival of African Films representatives Ronna Neuenschwander and Shireen Farrahi; as well as Lan Su Chinese Gardens’ Managing Director Jane De Marco.
 
This is the 20th annual Cascade Festival of African Films, which runs Feb. 5-March 6.
Portland’s Lan Su Gardens celebrates its 10th anniversary and is hosting several events to commemorate the Chinese New Year in mid/late February.
