Bread and Roses is a collective of women identified radio activists. We offer feminist public affairs programming. We give voice to those working for social justice and equity, globally and locally. We strive to challenge systems of oppression. All this, and we have fun!

Bread and Roses highlights the achievements of women artists, activists, athletes, scholars and innovators.We strive for programming excellence and collaborative efforts, providing access and training to women.

Enforcing the Violence Against Women Act at the State and Local Level: Who is Responsible?

Let's talk about the Violence Against Women Act and the ways the state of Oregon can ensure that the protections guaranteed by VAWA are enforced at the state and local level. We welcome 2 local activists to the studio, both of them long time advocates for women's rights and victims of domestic violence.

Liysa Swart is a profesional sports photographer. On October 9th, 2000 Liysa Swart shot and killed her husband Chris Northon after 4 years of domestic abuse. She spent 12 years in Coffee Creek Correctional Facility and was released in October 2012. She is now speaking out against domestic violence, the limitations of Oregon laws and the marginalization of victims of domestic abuse.

"The Center for Partnership Studies (CPS) through its initiative, the Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence (SAIV) offers a platform for strategic collaboration to end intimate violence that will contribute to the necessary cultural shift from the Dominator to Partnership model for family and social orientations."
