Give!Guide Support for KBOO Leaps Upward - Join In!

Categories:

Several dozen savvy and generous listeners have nearly doubled KBOO's total donations in the Give!Guide in just the past 10 days.  Thanks very much to all our 2009 Give!Guide donors thus far.

Now it would be so amazing if we could double our current total again in another 10 days (or less).  Please help us progress toward our goal of $20,000 by month's end.  Only with your help, possibly encouraged by some cool incentives, can we get there. Plus, everyone who donates at least $25.00 through the Give!Guide can attend a special private show with Deelay Ceelay at Berbati’s (10 SW 3rd Avenue) on Friday, January 15.  Deelay Ceelay is a collaboration between video artist / musician Chris Lael Larson and percussionist Delaney Kelly, fusing live instrumentation with synched projected visuals.

Use the Give!Guide to support KBOO this month

The Give!Guide has been active for a few weeks now, and while we've been raising some money, we're looking to reach $20,000 by the end of the month.  With your help, possibly further encouraged by some incentives, we can definitely get there.

If you haven't ever contributed money to KBOO, this is a great time and way to do so, especially if you are under 36 years old.  One major goal of the Guide, aside from raising money for selected non-profits, is to encourage younger people to become familiar with the age-old practice of charitable giving.  Plus, the group raising the most money, and the most separate donations, from people under 36 will receive extra money in the form of a prize.  A little friendly competition never hurt, and your gift right now could help move us up in the rankings.

And as a special enticement for December, if you contribute $100.+ to KBOO through the Give!Guide you will receive a copy of the 2010 Portland Chinook Book, worth thousands of dollars in coupons to local businesses.

About thank you gifts

Categories:

So you've made a contribution to KBOO  for the first or twenty-first time (THANKS!), and asked for a thank you gift.  The question you're likely asking is "When will it/they arrive?"

Many items we offer during the membership drives are not in-stock at KBOO, but must be ordered once we catch up with all the data entry.  If everything goes smoothly, ordered items arrive within 2 weeks, at which point we begin sending them out to those donors who have paid their pledge.

2009 Fall Membership Drive Wrapup

Thanks to everyone who contributed to KBOO during our Fall Membership Drive!  We stopped the Drive on schedule Saturday night, despite being short of our overall fundraising goal by roughly 22% or $28,000.

If you made a pledge and didn't pay with a credit/debit card, please send your payment to us this week

We rely on individual donors for over 80% of our annual operating budget.  KBOO has no endowment and receives NO federal money.  If you didn't donate during the Drive, you can make your donation here.

KBOO has always been commercial free because our listeners support us financially.

Winter Membership Drive: January 26-31

Help support listener-supported KBOO Radio by contributing during our one week Winter membership drive.  Nearly 90% of our annual operating revenue comes from individual donors like you.  Your donation is tax-deductible and is how we are able to broadcast such a diverse mix of music and create nearly 5 hours of locally produced news and public affairs content every weekday.

For this drive, we're producing several public affairs specials this week beginning with a look at the economic crisis and providing alternative views regarding solutions (Monday).  On Wednesday, KBOO continues its long-running coverage of the combined issues of global warming and climate change.  However, we're going to focus more on how we can all reduce the amount of carbon we emit through our daily activities.  And then on Friday we'll explore food and agriculture.

Then to close out the drive, on Saturday you'll want to make sure you stick around the house all morning, because Music from the True Vine will be hosting a 5-hour, live bluegrass performance special.  More details soon...or listen here and then donate here.  And thanks!

KBOO Radio is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization (EIN 23-7232987).  As a result, you may deduct donations to KBOO from your taxes, provided you follow the procedures below.

Give!Guide Results

Categories:

Thanks to everyone who sent us a donation through the Give!Guide during the last six weeks of 2008!  As anticipated, the final days were particularly exciting in terms of watching the giving results really accelerate their climb.  We ended up receiving just over $14,000, which we hand't budgeted for earlier in the year, and given our planned deficit this fiscal year, it will really help alleviate that situation.

An extra special thanks for those Give!Guide donors who becamse first-time KBOO donors; your investment in community radio is particularly important as the number and quality of free media choices continues to increase.
