Strikes, protests and occupations greet the arrival of the World Cup in Brazil this week.  In one of the world's most unequal societies, the Workers Party government is spending tens of billions of dollars building world class stadiums, displacing slum dwellers, and ramping up police and the armed forces, preparing for the huge world soccer championship -- while healthcare, education and public transportation suffer cuts.  Eduardo Albergaria, aide to a Congressional minister and activist in the Party of Socialism and Freedom (PSOL), talks with Labor Radio host Jamie Partridge about the opportunities and challenges facing the working class struggle. 29:40 minutes (27.16 MB)

Higher Brain Living

program date:
Sat, 06/07/2014

I had a very interesting talk with Douglas Bingley and Dianne Fouts about Higher Brain Living, a new process to activate the "Higher Brain" or Pre-Frontal Cortex, from which we can live with much less stress and far more creativity.

Douglas Bingley originally trained and worked as a LMT 23 years ago, became a breath work facilitator in re-birthing, then a certified teacher and practitioner of Still-point Breath-work and Aramaic forgiveness process under Dr. Michael Ryce. Doug was trained by Steven Thayer as an Integrated Energy Therapy Master facilitator, and added that work to his skill set. He most recently became aware of Higher Brain Living® , a revolutionary new personal empowerment technique developed and refined over 30 years by Dr. Michael Cotton. 63:24 minutes (58.05 MB)

No single action is more important  that rolling back corporate personhood.  If we can't do this, we have no chance as far as solving environmental disaster, poisoned food, poisoned water, shitty medical care...the listany continues

, A 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck northern Colorado Saturday night, and environmentalists weren’t surprised to learn that the epicenter was near a fracking site. 14:07 minutes (12.93 MB)

Resisting Oil Terminals on the Columbia River

program date:
Mon, 06/02/2014
Laurie Mercier talks with Eric de Place about proposed oil processing facilities in the Port of Vancouver (the largest ever in the PNW). The Tesaro terminals would bring in as much as half a million barrels of oil a day from the Alberta Tar Sands and other sites in North America. Eric reviews the recent history of both built and proposed oil infrastructure in Washington and Oregon. Eric explains how oil trains and infrastructure not only contribute to global ecological and economic volatility, but also how local ecologies and economies are systematically damaged by them, and how local communities are organizing against them. 13:05 minutes (11.98 MB)
